Welcome to LUG! (Fall 2026)
What to expect for the Fall 2026 semester.
What is LUG?
LUG is the Notre Dame Linux User’s Group. At our meetings, volunteers from the community give presentations about cool open source software tools and concepts. Take a look at the semester schedule to get an idea of topics we will cover during the semester.
You can find a list of this year’s LUG officers along with their portfolio websites in the “Officers” section on the landing page.
How to participate
Unlike other clubs, we don’t really require people to do any kind of signup process, pay dues, or participate in mandatory meetings or activities.
We would love for you to attend meetings! You can learn about meeting dates, locations, and topics by…
- Following the LUG Google Calendar
- Checking the semester schedule on the front page of this website
- Signing up for our mailing list
If you aren’t able to attend a meeting but still want to learn about the topic, please check out the corresponding blog post linked in the schedule. These posts (like this one) are meant to be similar to the in-person meeting, except in prose form. We’ll be adding more of these posts as the semester goes on.
We are always looking for volunteers to present at meetings! If you want to present on some cool open source thing (or in general, some computer science thing), please reach out to one of the officers on Matrix, Slack, email, or in person. If you’d like to learn more about what this process looks like, read our contribution guidelines.
Stay in touch
We’d love for you to join our Matrix room to chat with other LUG members! Check out the “Get in touch” section on the landing page for more information.
We also have a Minecraft server hosted at minecraft3.ndlug.org.
- The server is configured to only be online at certain times to encourage everyone to play together :)
- Please let us know what times would work best for you on this when2meet so we can schedule the uptime accordingly.
- The server is behind a whitelist. Please email sneisewa@nd.edu your username so we can whitelist you.
